Google Chrome currently lacks any sort of feed detection or handling, but all that is about to change. In the next chrome there will be an install extension for handing of RSS feeds, The extension “adds a button to the URL bar when a page has a feed that can be subscribed to”. When you click on the orange button, the extension previews the feed and it lets you subscribe using a feed reader. The extension is available now on the Chromium Developer Website.

Despite Google’s original release date predicted release date of the second half of 2010, a ‘reliable source’ has told TechCrunch it is likely to be released in the next week. Google has previously said they are working with Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba on the project, but it is currently unknown which devices the new OS will be compatible with. You can read more at the TechCrunch blog here. The image below is one of the more convincing potential Chrome OS ‘leaks’.
