Next year: Google Docs takes on Office

Dave Girouard, president of Google’s enterprise division, says that next year businesses will have the choice to “get rid” of  Microsoft Office.

He said in an interview that he believes that Docs is currently not as mature as Google Mail or Calendar, making it currently unsuitable as a replacement to Microsoft Office. He this will change though about a year, when docs will be ready to take on the competition. Read more at ZDnet

Vimeo Meet-ups

Vimeo have just announced a new series of Meet-ups at Brooklyn Bowl. These Meet-ups will be held four times a year and will give Vimeo members to “get together, chill, bowl and watch awesome Vimeo videos projected on Brooklyn Bowl’s state-of-the-art HD projection screens.” The first Meet-up will be on the 12th of December. Happy Birthday Firefox

Five years ago, Mozilla launched Firefox 1.0. 4 days after its release they reached 1 million downloads.

Today Firefox 3.5 has 330 million users (almost 1/4 of Internet users) and i’m one of them!

Vimeo invited to speak at FOWD

If you have visited the popular video hosting site, Vimeo, then you may have found staring in awe at the design…or that could just be me. Carsonified have recognized Vimeo’s flair in web design and have just asked them to speak at the Future of Web Design Conference in New York in November.

Vimeo say they will be “…dispelling the wisdom and secrets of how we design with ideas of cultivating community and the nuances involved.”

Carsonified is giving away a free ticket to this event, all you need to do is enter a video into their ‘Future of The Web’ Competition by 1PM GMT on Thursday (Nov 12th). Click Here for more details!
